Hollow
Photoshop and Painter, 2017

Learning to love yourself is a harsh process. Arriving at an acceptance of your inner beauty is both beautiful and painful; you cannot just skip past the jagged parts that you don’t love, but instead must comb through them, and find a way to have compassion for them.

What does it feel like, to realize that you have grief for yourself? What is it, to be loved and cherished by another for the first time, and to look back at yourself with compassion for the past self which has endured all the same pain that you have, but doesn’t yet know that someone is coming who will bring your heart rest?

Created as my response to the 'Hollow' prompt for Month of Fear 2017.
